FREDERICK, MD, August 5, 2023—On a foggy, muggy August morning, Jaime Senior, Karyn Ayala, and Mackenzie Farran from DeLeon & Stang joined over 600 participants at the starting line of the 34th annual Frederick Women’s Distance Festival on the campus of Frederick Community College. The women from DeLeon & Stang participated in the 5K walk/run event and joined in the fun at the post-race party.

The Frederick MD Women’s Distance Festival is an annual August running that celebrates the power and determination of women runners. In addition to being a celebration of women, the net proceeds of the Festival are donated to the Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County, a local organization that provides grants to women-led charities. The Festival was founded in 1980 in response to the lack of distance running events for women. Today, the Frederick MD Women’s Distance Festival is one of the largest women-only running events in the country.

DeLeon & Stang has been an active member of the Frederick community for many years. One of the ways they stay involved is by participating in the Frederick Women’s Distance Festival. This event has been a part of the company’s tradition for many years. Kelly Phelps, a DeLeon & Stang team member, brought the event to the attention of the company’s leadership this year. The leadership quickly approved the idea, and Mackenzie Farran, another team member, organized the firm’s participation.

“It’s a no-brainer for us to participate in the event. We are a diverse team, and this is a great opportunity for us to show up and celebrate the power and determination of women and give back to the women-led organizations in our community.” Brad Hoffman, Managing Partner, says on participating in the event.
